Hey everyone, welcome to DesignersMind.com.

This site was started to provide both seasoned and new web designers a resource to look to when they need aid. Looking around, I couldn’t seem to find a single site that focused on web design (although, there’s dozens of ‘development’ sites that just dabble in design). So, instead of taking the lazy-man’s “I’ll just wait until someone builds one approach, I decided to take my knowledge in web design and apply it.

Here’s what I need from you. Yes, you. I already have tons of things planned, but I’d like to hear what you think should appear on this site. Leave a comment on this post, and tell me what you’d like to see on this site. Anything from tutorial ideas and article subjects to recommendations for designers to interview. Help me make this the best designer’s resource out there!

  1. Jarrett Says:

You should make a tutorial on how to make a full website from scratch.

  2. Tam Denholm Says:

How about the process you use when creating a web design, perhaps record the process of how you make a design for this blog?

  3. admin Says:

Tam, I love that idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

  4. tim Says:

design all the way from the request/commission, through ideas, sketches, mock-ups, and the eventual coding.

  5. Bryan Le Says:

I love what the other two are saying. When you get a client, or when you design this blog - record it. All of it. All your mistakes, all your techniques. It’d be long - but you can edit some of the unnecessary stuff out afterwards.

Caution: You’re going to get a huge file. lol.

As for some original input of my own - I’d like to know the process of slicing a .PSD and preparing it for xHTML/CSS - and if you can, take it one step further and show the development of the html from .PSD.

I must say though it doesnt seem like its what you intended but the domain gave me the feel of a site i would go to that you register you and your blog and it would grab RSS feeds from your site of your latest posts that designers come to read. if you get what i mean.

    Noted, thanks for that Bryan!

  8. admin Says:

James, I don’t quite understand what you mean, could you elaborate?

  9. Imad Says:

How to start, how to plan, what to choose etc.. when starting on a website from the ground up. Tips etc.. I have to run but L’ll be back to comment more :D

  10. James Juliov Says:

Okay, the domain is called the DesignersMind, what Bryan and others have suggested are great, but when i see the domain i think of a blog, or more so a group of blogs. I think maybe a part of the site should have where you go to it and on it it shows RSS Feeds (Posts from the peoples Blog) of Designers blogs who registered them here.

  11. admin Says:

So you mean when think of “DesignersMind” you think of a collection of designer’s writings all put into one blog through RSS Feeds?

  12. jk Says:

i’d have to second what tam said. i think if you document the process that you go through design wise would be great. not every little detail, but just a general sum up

  13. Mac Tyler Says:

I have been searching for forever on how to find a good article on the official or best guidelines to start with in an html design. Like standard format and layout. I haven’t taken any classes in web design or anything like that, I have simply just picked up things from here and there on my own so I never learned what the Strict markup is. I hope you understand what I mean. Basicly a good coding template that you can start from each time you go to make a new website. Not talking about a complete template, just like up to the body tags and stuff, just the simple part. Love the site man! Oh and do you play guitar as well?

  14. Miko Says:

    What about trends, like:

1)At the moment most favorite webdesign colour mixes?
(Which colours are most faved and prefered)

2)Round corners or sharp-angled. ? Which one suits best for what purposes. (I have no idea what i mean by this, just brainstorming :p)

    3) What fonts are best to read and on what background? Or with which colour.
(ive done a reasearch for it long time ago, but what i found was kinda old. Also i think you could do a better one anyway :))

Cant come up with something else right now.

  15. Steve Says:

Can other Designers publish articles on your blog?

  16. Steve Says:

It should be cool to hear from other Designers their thoughts, “minds”, about some new styles, waves in modern design.
Let designers post comments about some sites, discuss how to make sites better, how to improve quality of web site.
